GWICH'IN GOVERNMENT
The Regional Gwich’in Collaborative (RGC) is the team responsible for negotiating Gwich’in Collaborative Government on behalf of the communities of Aklavik, Teetł’it Zheh (Fort McPherson) and Tsiigehtchic.
The Gwich’in Collaborative Government process is intended to be community driven. This means that communities and participants will decide what self-government looks like. Communities and participants need to own this process so we can build stronger communities and organizations for all Gwich’in.
The Grand Chief of the GTC also serves as the Lead Negotiator and works with the Regional Negotiation Team to seek community and participant feedback to structure a Final Self-Government Agreement with the Governments of Canada and the Northwest Territories.
For more information on the Gwich'in Government process, please see the Gwich'in Regional Collaborative Government website.
